This is one of my favorite sites. It has over 100 short animated cartoons on science, health and technology. The cartoons feature Tim and his Robot Moby. Tim explains things in a clear easy to understand way. It also has a 10 question multiple choice quiz that goes with each topic. This site is AWESOME!!!!!!!!! A subscription is well worth it! http://www.brainpop.com |

http://www.teachersource.com This has some of the coolest science materials and supplies that I have seen anywhere. From ultraviolet detecting beads to grow-beasts, you can always find something unusual and interesting. They have fair prices. This is one of my favorite places to buy science materials. The people here are friendly and service is excellent! Highly recommended! This is where Morrison Labs purchased the UV beads, the UV nail polish, and the UV pens and paints. |

This is a sample of what is one of the nine DVDs available. These short video clips or Squibs are great for introducing, reviewing, or just adding enrichment to your science curriculum. Squibs can work in your classroom on many levels. Students learn and make connections to science concepts in different ways. Using a variety of ways to present science concepts makes sense. Squibs might open a student's eyes and allow them to see the concept from a different viewpoint. The use of music and humor will connect with many students. I like how many of the Squibs have the text of what is being said across the bottom of the screen. Squibs deepen and reinforce student's understanding of science concepts. Squibs can make learning more interesting and fun. I think of Squibs as adding seasoning to your curriculum that makes learning taste better. The short 3-4 minute length allows Squibs to be fit into your curriculum easily. With the DVD format you can jump right to the segment you want. Each disc has a glossary with the key words on that disc. My students are studying buoyancy and I used a Squib from Disc 5 called Archimedes on Archimedes. In this Squib a cartoon reporter is interviewing Archimedes about his principle of buoyancy. It was fun, clearly presented the principle of buoyancy, and my 8th grade students enjoyed it. You really get a lot for your money. I have been teaching 8th grade science for 25 years and I highly recommend Squibs. |

http://www.lhs.berkeley.edu/GEMS/GEMS.html "GEMS is a leading resource for innovative science and mathematics education. Developed at the Lawrence Hall of Science, the public science education center at the University of California at Berkeley, and tested in thousands of classrooms nationwide, over 70 GEMS teacher's guides and handbooks offer a wide range of supplementary learning experiences." I use many of the GEMS experiments at morrison labs. They are well written, interesting, fun, and very thorough. I highy recommend them. Some of the experiments I use are: Chemical Reactions, Bubble-ology, Dry Ice Investigations, Crime Lab Chemistry, Fingerprinting, Paper Towel Testing, The Real Reasons for Seasons, Mystery Festival Global, Warming and the Greenhouse Effect, Convection: A Current Event |
